What training do the staff supporting pupils with SEND have?

Every year we have training for staff (in the five training days when the schools are closed to pupils and also, for teachers, every week after school). In addition to this, staff (teachers and SEND TAs) are trained, as required, to support specific pupils, for example, when working with a pupil with autism or when sensory aids or ICT programs are required.

Medical training to support pupils with medical care plans (such as severe allergies and diabetes) is provided to staff. SEND staff are supported and trained by external agencies based on the needs of individual pupils.

Deaf awareness training is provided to all staff at Culloden, as well as specialist training that includes language development and additional needs.
