What support do we offer for pupils’ overall health and wellbeing?
We provide a range of support services for pupils including learning mentors and specialist support. The trust also employs a School Home Support Worker who works across the schools.
The class/base group teacher has the responsibility for the overall well-being of every pupil in their class. Staff are trained by designated hospital professionals if a pupil has a particular medical need e.g. diabetic. If a pupil has significant medical needs, then parents/carers will speak to the assistant principal for inclusion to discuss how the school can best support the child. This might include completing a health care plan so that the relevant agencies can be contacted. The school holds a list of all pupils who have medical needs, which is shared with relevant staff members. The support that we can provide in school may include nurture groups, social skills and friendship groups and also bespoke behaviour programmes.
