Murrayfield Primary Academy celebrates ‘good’ Ofsted rating

The report credits quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and early years provision. This is a highly commendable improvement since Paradigm took over the school, which was previously judged as inadequate.

The inspection report recognises that parents and carers are now highly positive about the school, and that pupils are happy the school has “got a lot better over the last two years”, with older pupils saying that behaviour is now “fabulous”. Pupils referred to feeling safe at school because the teachers were like their parents, and the other pupils like their brothers and sisters.

Standards in English and mathematics have risen dramatically. Prior to the inspection, Murrayfield had achieved its best overall attainment results in the school’s history. Year Six SATS saw 63% of the pupils achieve the national standard in reading, writing and mathematics combined, with 80% of pupils achieving the national standard in mathematics, and an excellent 87% doing so in their writing.

The school was praised for ensuring that its pupils are prepared well for secondary school, with a real partnership between primary and secondary teachers and strong subject knowledge found across all areas.

Murrayfield Primary Academy has 60 children per year group, as well as a 26-place nursery.

Paradigm Trust ensures that all its schools offer a fantastic education in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. This is supported by enrichment opportunities that enable children to have the best opportunity to reach their potential.
