KS3 Art and Design

In Years 7 and 8 we teach Art and Design on rotation.

Year 7 (a 10 week rotation)

  • Fundamentals of drawing (pencil and pen and ink) based on Natural Forms inspired by Jim Dine
  • paint outcome in the style of Angie Lewin
  • Sculpture (clay) in the style of Heather Wright.

 

Year 8 (a 10 week rotation)

Contemporary British Black Art: students will study Chris Ofili’s piece: ‘No Woman No Cry’ and the African inspired pattern work of Yinka Shonibare

  • Students will develop and create their own mixed media piece influenced by the 2 artists. Techniques will include wax resist, batik, dot decoration, creating silhouettes.
  • Comparative analysis with African art and Renaissance art.

 

Year 9

Term 1 – painting and sculpture inspired by Pop Artists Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg

Term 2 – drawing skills inspired by Cubism and pattern and tone inspired by the work of Roy Lichtenstein.

Term 3 – photography, painting and digital drawing inspired by the landscapes of David Hockney, John Constable and the movement of impressionism.

KS3 Fitness and Nutrition Overview

At KS3, the food technology elements of the National Curriculum for DT are taught within Fitness and Nutrition.
