Paradigm Trust offers Initial Teacher Training in primary and secondary education (all subject areas).
We have a significant track record of delivering high-quality initial teaching training, professional/leadership development and school-to-school support.
When you train with us you will gain invaluable school and classroom experience, and our training programme will equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience to become an excellent teacher.
“The best thing has been hands-on training that I can take into the classroom immediately. Lots of chances to see others teach and learn best practice.”
There are seven schools within Paradigm Trust – three in London, four in Ipswich, Suffolk – all of which offer teacher training placements. Old Ford Primary in London is the founding school of Paradigm Trust. As an Outstanding school, Old Ford was one of only 36 primary schools to be designated as a National Teaching School in the first cohort in 2011. The other London schools are Culloden Primary (also judged Outstanding by Ofsted, in July 2015) and Solebay Primary.
Our Ipswich schools are Murrayfield Primary, Piper’s Vale Primary, Ipswich Academy (a secondary school) and Woodbridge Road Academy – a specialist SEN school. Murrayfield is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, and in 2019 had the best overall attainment for Year 6 SATS in their history. In the most recent National Assessments, Piper’s Vale exceeded the national average in Y6 SATS maths and met it in English, and Ipswich Academy recently achieved a ‘Good’ rating for the first time since it opened in 2011 and was rated ‘Outstanding’ for its leadership and management.
“The most interesting part of my training so far has been my training sessions where I can not only learn but socialise with fellow trainees. It is helpful to share experiences and collaborate.”

For more information, please contact Kevin Jones (Principal, Old Ford Primary) for primary enquiries based in London or Ben Rogers (Ipswich Academy) for the Ipswich primaries and secondary. If you are interested, we welcome and strongly encourage you to make contact prior to making an application. We would be very pleased to meet with you at any of our schools.
“The second placement at Old Ford was really useful. Working in a different environment in a new year group was important for getting used to teaching in a different way and understanding the differences between year groups.”
Graduate applications must be made via the Government’s ‘Find postgraduate teacher training’ website https://www.gov.uk/find-postgraduate-teacher-training-courses
If you wish to express an interest in non-graduate opportunities, please contact Ben Rogers at Ipswich Academy
Who is this programme for?
This programme is for graduates and career change graduates who wish to train to become teachers.
If we feel you have the right qualities to become a teacher, but need to complete additional subject training first, we are able to provide a comprehensive subject knowledge enhancement (SKE) offer (for graduates and non-graduates alike). This would involve building up or refreshing your existing knowledge.
We are also able to offer parallel training opportunities for strong candidates (secondary only) who do not have a degree but who can demonstrate clear aptitude and desire to develop a teaching career. We would consider applications for training places from school leavers who have, or are predicted to achieve, strong A levels (or equivalent) and can demonstrate an interest in, and experience of, working with children and young people.
