Managing staff performance

The issue of staff performance has received much media attention over the past couple of years, and taken singularly may be the issue which causes headteachers/principals and senior leaders the greatest level of anxiety and concern.

This 1-day interactive training course is designed to coach senior leaders in schools and academies, up to and including headteachers/principals, through the process of managing staff performance, and in particular those difficult steps of managing poor performance (often referred to as 'capability').

Participants will be encouraged to identify performance issues and the underlying causes at an early stage, and assisted to develop (through use of practical exercises) the skills and confidence to conduct those 'difficult conversations'.

Be guided by your experienced trainer through practical considerations on how to manage performance, and gain tips on how to overcome some of the more common difficulties encountered when dealing with under-performing staff.

While focusing on teacher performance, this course is also suitable for those trying to manage support staff performance within schools/academies. The course is equally relevant to those working in primary, secondary and special schools.

Those relatively new to a school HR role, or looking to develop their knowledge in this area, will also benefit from this course.

All participants will receive a comprehensive pack of documentation from the course, including a mini 'toolkit.'
